Pictures from Spain

I've got a selection of pictures from Spain posted online (and also to Grandma's picture frame).

This was a tremendous vacation, and hopefully you can see how busy we were, and how much we were able to do in just 4 short days! We took 492 pictures, but we chose the top 100 to share with ChalkBoard Nation. Spain is truly a beautiful place, and the places that we visited (in order--Madrid, Toledo, Escorial, then back in Madrid) were all tremendous. Further, the people there were all very friendly and accommodating of our less-than-fluent Spanish... let's just say that Holly can't make fun of me anymore for not being able to communicate in France.

Below, the pictures should automatically scroll, but if you want the "full size" pictures, click on them and it will bring up the Picasa web site, where you can see them at "full" size.

Looks like you guys did a lot of sightseeing in four days. Dad and I had fun looking at them. When you are here you can tell us what we looked at. Thanks for taking the time to share them with us.

We love the pictures. What a beautiful country. We hope one day we can travel to Europe with you. You take some amazing pictures. We love the one of Holly imitating the statue. We guess Winnie the Pooh is universal. It looks like you had a great time. We are so glad you are getting these opportunities to see some of the world.

Why did Tigger put his head in the toilet? Because he was looking for Pooh. And you found Pooh in Spain, Holly. That's amazing! Which one is your favorite now, Spain or Italy? Looks like you guys had a good time. Can't you just stay home for a while. This is really getting depressing for me.

Spain was absolutely tremendous, but I think I have to give it to Italy in a close race.

Rome was absolutely terrific... the streets, plazas, fountains, and history are unrivaled anywhere in the world in my opinion. We would go back to Rome in an instant.

Madrid was very close, though. Like Rome, Madrid was very walkable. We only took public transportation once, with the exception of our tours and airport transfers. Everything else we did, we walked. You would NEVER be able to do that in London or Paris (way too large).

Plus, the history of Madrid is very well preserved, and it had an "older" feel to it like Rome did. Outside of where we stayed, Madrid's business district is certainly starting to "boom", but even that is not near to the level that Paris or London is.

One last thing we learned... everyone in America can stop smoking because the Europeans will singlehandedly keep the tobacco companies afloat for YEARS to come!

Don't worry, Uncle Mike. We're about grounded. I think we've run out of Frequent Flyer miles ;-). I certainly have ran out of vacation days!!!

I think Michael has out witted Uncle Mark in the joke department.
Don't worry Michael, Cedar Point is still a great place for a vacation! With kids and college in your future, that will be about all you will be able to afford.
